Charcoal Demonstration Weekend

Bovey Tracey 750th Charter celebrations courtesey of Natural England at East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve at Yarner.
Saturday 3rd July and Sunday 4th July
Discover traditional charcoal making at Yarner Wood this weekend and see what is actually involved in this industry and how it would have shaped the landscape and wildlife.
Follow the family friendly Woodcutters trail, discover your inner artist and draw with charcoal made on site
Lighting will take place at 11:30 on Saturday 3rd July and the traditional hearth will burn all weekend in the hope we can reveal the charcoal Sunday afternoon.
Yarner Wood is open from 8:30am to 7.00pm, but Natural England will be supplying a shuttle bus from Station Road car park from 10:45 which will give you ample time to walk to the demonstration area.

Alternatively combine your visit a trip around the moor on the Haytor Hoppa buson the Saturday, for which there is a charge.
