This year, the charity Devon Guild of Craftsmen, celebrates its 60th anniversary, during which time they have cemented their role linking artists and makers with communities, schools and colleges providing front-line creative guidance and inspiration both from their Riverside Mill venue in Bovey Tracey and their work with communities through the South West.
To get their 61st year off to a flying start, they are launching a pre-Christmas 60th anniversary campaign to raise £6,000 in 60 days and asking anyone who supports the organisation to consider contributing to the continued success of the education programme providing learning activities for all ages, exhibitions and events.
The Guild has been an important plus for the area through tough economic times, bringing over 100,000 visitors annually into the town centre of Bovey Tracey and benefitting many other local businesses and trades, contributing to a thriving local community.
The Guild has also been instrumental in initiating and supporting two key events in the Bovey Tracey town calendar – The Contemporary Crafts Festival in June, and Nourish Festival of craft, food and music in September.
Their work can only continue successfully with broad support from the local community in terms of trade, goodwill and financially.
This campaign is a great opportunity to show your appreciation of a key local organisation that has been pivotal in the life of South West creative communities and local life for many years
Click on their fundraising button on their website www.crafts.org.uk home page and donate directly, by card by phoning 01626 832223 or by giving cash or cheque at Riverside Mill.
Thank you very much for the feedback we collected on this at the Nourish Festival.
