Steering Group Members needed for Bovey Tracey, Brimley & Heathfield Neighbourhood Plan

Bovey Tracey Town Council has chosen to create a Neighbourhood Development Plan which will enable local people to have a say on the future development of Bovey Tracey, Brimley and Heathfield.  The aim is to work as a whole community to develop a plan which reflects the aspirations of us all for the future of Bovey Tracey parish.

To do this and to do it well, the Town Council is encouraging widespread participation and giving equal consideration to opinions and ideas from all members of the community.  The Steering Group will consist of volunteers from a range of disciplines who will work together to bring the varying skills and experience needed to undertake the process. Also required will be group volunteers with interests in areas such as health & wellbeing, housing, business & economy, education, tourism, transport and the environment, to name just a few.

Bovey Tracey Town Council is asking people who wish to join the Steering Group or one or more Task Groups to submit an expression of interest to Bovey Tracey Town Council, indicating whether they would like to be considered for the Steering Group or any of the Task Groups. Forms for this are available at Bovey, Brimley and Heathfield Post Offices, Bovey Library, the Town Council Office, Riverside Surgery, Devon Guild of Craftsmen and other shops within the town (as listed on the Town Council’s website) or can be downloaded from here, where you can find the individual contact details of Town Councillors who are actively involved in the project.

There is a ‘Drop In’ event at Bovey Tracey Library on Saturday 21st October between 10.00am – 1.00pm for speaking informally with a Town Councillor to find out more about the roles and the Neighbourhood Planning process.  The closing date for the receipt of expressions of interest is Friday 3rd November 2017.  All expressions of interest should be sent to Bovey Tracey Town Council, Town Hall, Town Hall Place, Bovey Tracey, TQ13 9EG or via e-mail to: info@boveytracey.gov.uk, Telephone: 01626 834217.

The Steering Group, which is likely to be capped at 12 members, will include a small number of Town Councillors. These Councillors will assess the Expression of Interests from community applicants and may ask for further details to be submitted to ensure a representative balance of volunteers is obtained, before confirming selection for the group, as it is vitally important that the Steering Group represents a cross section of the community to form a strong Neighbourhood Planning team for Bovey Tracey.
