As no doubt I am sure you are aware, Devon County Council withdrew funding for Youth Services in 2014.

Since the funding ceased and the youth facility in Heathfield closed, there appears to be a rising number of incidents in the area and therefore we are making efforts to ascertain what levels of skills and support might be available from within the community to establish a community led youth service facility within Heathfield.  The current portacabins (on land owned by Sparkworld) were used previously as a dedicated facility for the youth, but closed following the withdrawal of funding from the County Council and was also heavily vandalised last year.

I am arranging an informal meeting on Saturday 30th April at 10.00am at St Catherines School to gauge interest and support from both parents and/or residents to discuss the potential future for the provision of a community led youth service facility in Heathfield.

If you are interested in attending, we would be pleased to hear from you.  Please register your interest with Mark Wells (Town Clerk – Bovey Tracey Town Council) either by email info@boveytracey.gov.uk or by telephoning 01626 834217.  We would be grateful to receive your response by 16th April 2016.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Kind regards

Cllr Eoghan Kelly

Town Councillor

Heathfield
