Moorland Community Caring
Moorland Community Caring is a small, local charity, serving the communities of Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh. Since 2016, we have supported people in a variety of ways, including delivery of a NHS Well-being Programme, Dementia Wellbeing programme, Moor Social Events, Befriending and Digital Champions work.rnrnOur aim is to help people to live independently – connecting them to their community, whether through our work or that of other other organisations. It may also include support from our wonderful volunteers, to gain confidence to lead independent and fulfilled lives. We achieve this through listening to you and your family and helping to create a support plan tailored to your needs.rnrnMoorland Community Caring is part of the South Devon Well-being Partnership, delivering Well-being Programmes, individually tailored to a patient’s needs. Working in collaboration with GPs, District Nurses, Mental Health practitioners, Health & Social Care colleagues and Social Prescribers, we engage with patients for 12 – 20 weeks, helping to improve well-being. This may be addressing loneliness, bereavement, anxiety, diet, physical illness, budgeting and so much more.rnrnA small, but dedicated team, together with volunteers, deliver services to the over 50s in the towns of Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Buckfastleigh and surrounding areas. We work collaboratively, providing practical help, emotional support and advice and guidance, while all the time listening and making connections within the community’s health and social care professionals network.rnrnWe also run twice monthly Moor Social groups at Bovey Tracey Methodist Church on the first and third Tuesday of the month between 13:00-15:00. On other weeks we host a warm space as part of the community hub where you can get a cup of tea, biscuit and enjoy a chat. rnrnWe run Moor Socials in Ashburton and Buckfastleigh also and we run a once monthly Memory Café in Ashburton that runs on the first Tuesday of every month between 10:30-12:00 at St. Andrew's Church Hall, 2 St Andrews Close, TQ13 7DT. rnrnWe have three different peer-led phone groups that run every week - a crossword, a quiz and a bingo. They are ideal for those that cannot make our in person groups or if you want more opportunities to connect with others in a fun way. Please contact us for more information on how you can take part.rnrnWe also run free courses including HOPE and Live Longer Better courses, more information about these are on our website or get in touch. rnrnWe are always looking for new volunteers and have a variety of roles available so please get in touch.
