The Parke Estate is on the edge of Bovey Tracey and extends for about a mile up the river valley. A wide variety of walks are available with lots of paths through woodland, pasture, along the river bank and along the former Moretonhampstead branch railway, which latter is now surfaced and open as a cycle path as well as being suitable for disabled access. You are also free to wander in the parkland in front of the house.
Click on the link to download a leaflet about the estate which includes a map of the paths, or pick up a copy of it from Bovey Tracey Information Centre (Station Road, Bovey Tracey).
Some of the walks can be uneven (look out for tree roots especially on the riverbank), wet and slipperry, so please wear suitable footwear. There are steep climbs on some of the woodland paths.
How Do I Get There?
Access by car via the clearly signposted entrance from Haytor Road, about 200 yards from the A382 roundabout, with free parking by Parke House.
The estate can also be accessed on foot from the centre of Bovey Tracey by following the river bank from the bridge (almost opposite Station Road car park) through Millmarsh Park and under the Moretonhampstead Road..
