Deputy Town Clerk

£29,540 – £31,537 per annum FTE

up to 37 hours per week with evening work and occasional weekends

Office Location: Riverside Community Centre, Bovey Tracey, Devon

This job is for you if you love variety, are flexible and are up for some challenges. You will be supporting the Town Clerk in the day-to-day management and operation of Council services and resources, ensuring compliance with legislation and statutory obligations.

You will also lead on communications and community engagement, overseeing public enquiries and maintaining excellent customer care.

You will manage the Council’s administrative services and oversee some of the key services.

Previous experience in Local Government is not essential, however experience in administrative roles, managing meetings and managing projects or community initiatives would be beneficial.

Our office is in Bovey Tracey, Devon and the role is predominantly office based. Applications from people wishing to request a flexible working pattern, including part-time hours, are welcome.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is flexible and committed to developing their skills. 

It would be an advantage to have the following skills:

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in administration and project management.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ideally CiLCA qualified or willing to work towards it.
  • Willingness to attend evening meetings and occasional weekend events.
