The Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom campaign, one of the largest campaigns in Europe, involves over one thousand communities across the UK each year.
RHS Britain in Bloom focuses on: Horticultural Achievement (40%), Environmental Responsibility (30%) and Community Participation (30%). In Bovey Tracey the South West in Bloom concentrates on the following activities:
Park cleanliness and maintenance
Planting and maintaining floral features
Creating wildflower meadows
Community engagement projects
Highlighting environmental initiatives and issues (reducing the use of natural resources, balancing seasonal and permanent planting, reintroducing native plants).
The town’s Bloom leaders work closely with the Town Council, local businesses, residents, and gardening enthusiasts. Judging takes place during July.
Families in Heathfield are set to benefit from improved children’s play facilities after Bovey Tracey Town Council (BTTC) agreed to seek ownership of a district play park.

VOLUNTEERS have started to give Heathfield Community Centre a little TLC, including a green makeover and new link to Zimbabwe! The team got busy before Christmas, clearing a site where rotten fencing is due to be replaced by a native hedge, planted in partnership with nearby St Catherine’s C of E Primary School.
